Fall Appearances Scheduled for Phyllis Barone Ameduri, Author of Never Ruled by Man

Author Phyllis Barone Ameduri is scheduled for several appearances this fall in New Jersey, New York, and beyond as a guest speaker and authors’ panelist. A dynamic speaker, Ms. Ameduri will discuss and sign copies of her new book, Never Ruled by Man, a biographical novel that tells the true story of Mary Ann Bascombe, a unique and eccentric personality who lived in the 19^th-century bustling community of Stapleton, New York.

Born in 1840 in the working class section of town, orphaned at the age of 12, and forced into work as a housemaid, Mary Ann Bascombe went on to become a savvy businesswoman, lay lawyer, neighborhood activist, and local politician. Never Ruled by Man resurrects her rich and fascinating life during the free-spirited independent days of Staten Island before it became part of the City of New York. Along with delving into the story of this unforgettable woman who was ahead of her time and defied all odds, the author also offers a treasure trove of detailed information, garnered through years of research, about the history and significance, both then and now, of the area in which Mary Ann Bascombe lived. 

On Friday, September 13, 2019, Ms. Ameduri will be speaking to residents and guests at Applewood Estates in Freehold, NJ.

On Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., she will be participating in the Alumni Author Panel at the Wagner College Homecoming in Staten Island, NY. Faculty, students, families, friends, and other members of the Wagner community are invited to attend. Wagner College is located at 1 Campus Road, Staten Island, NY 10301.

On Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., the author will appear at the Concordia Fall Bazaar in Monroe Township, NJ, an event that regularly draws residents of 14 active adult communities. The bazaar is free and open to the public, and all are invited. Concordia is located at 1 Clubhouse Drive, Monroe, NJ 08831.

On Friday, October 25, 2019, Ms. Ameduri will be the guest speaker at a book club in Hiavassee, GA.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at all events. Look for more details to be announced soon about appearances already scheduled for 2020.
