Spring Fling Bingo Night
It may be summer, but supporters of the nonprofit volunteer organization Holiday Express work hard all year long to prepare for the season of private events that will take place in November and December to deliver the gift of human kindness to those most in need. Two special public events – one held recently and another one coming up next month – provide the opportunity to raise both funds and awareness for the organization’s important mission.
On March 29, 2019, Holiday Express hosted a sold-out Spring Fling Bingo Night for more than 200 guests at their new warehouse headquarters in Eatontown, NJ. In addition to the exciting bingo games, attendees feasted upon an amazing variety of BYO dishes, followed up by an array of desserts served by Holiday Express. Besides the prizes of wine bottles and restaurant gift certificates that went to bingo winners, participants also had the chance to vie for terrific door prizes, beautiful raffle baskets, and a “lucky date” drawing. Upon their arrival, each person also received a generous gift card to any of the McLoone’s restaurant locations. There was even some impromptu dancing with friends! Holiday Express founder Tim McLoone was on hand to call some of the winning numbers and to warmly welcome the audience. And of course, attendees had the opportunity see firsthand the venue where all the magic happens to get ready for the Holiday Express season.
The festive and successful evening raised more than $10,000 to go directly towards the considerable expenses of providing music, food, gifts, and financial support – in addition to the priceless gift of friendship – to 27,000 people who will be visited at 100 events during the upcoming holiday season. Now heading into its 27th season, Holiday Express is dedicated to visiting groups throughout New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia that include the mentally and physically challenged, the isolated, those in addiction and recovery programs, the poor and homeless, and children with serious illnesses, all of whom are often overlooked and forgotten. The average cost for each event is $6,000 and the organization relies entirely on donations from individuals, groups, and businesses in the community to make it possible.
