It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…or at least it will at the end of this month in Red Bank! The town is getting ready to deck the halls, trim the trees, strike up the band, and light up the night for the annual Holiday Express Concert and Town Lighting on Friday, November 29.
Thousands of merry residents and visitors from throughout the area will be flocking to Broad Street to enjoy the festivities, which will begin at 7 pm with the traditional performance by Holiday Express. The concert takes place on Broad Street at Canal Street, with everyone rocking out to favorite holiday songs by the Holiday Express Band and appearances by lots of very special guests who are sure to delight young and old alike.
A live countdown to the town lighting will begin around 8 pm, culminating with the moment that the streets are illuminated for the first time of the 2019 season. Throughout the celebration, the Union Hose Fire Company of the Red Bank Fire Department will be serving free hot chocolate. And in the spirit of holiday giving, Holiday Express is requesting donations of deodorant and bars of soap for distribution to the 27,000 people in need that the volunteer organization will visit at 100 events from November 4 through December 24. Look for the collection bins that will be available at various downtown locations.
Prior to the 7 pm musical kickoff, visitors can also climb aboard the Santa Express, join in the Santa Parade, and enjoy other festivities that start at 5:30 pm in Red Bank, with the Holiday Dancers and live music by the Pipes and Drums of the Atlantic Watch, and at the Little Silver Train Station. In Little Silver, passengers can spend time with Santa and Mrs. Claus before boarding the train at 6:40 PM to travel to Red Bank, with free tickets compliments of The Galleria in Red Bank. After the train arrives in Red Bank at 6:44 pm, Santa and Mrs. Claus will board a Red Bank firetruck and lead the happy procession to Broad Street.
Parking will be free throughout Red Bank for the town lighting and on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, visit www.redbank.org.
