Bell Works Fresh Holiday Market
The Bell Works Fresh 2018 Holiday Market proved to be a seasonal success in the atrium at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ. An extension of the weekly summertime Bell Works Fresh events, the holiday market allowed both vendors and shoppers alike the chance to take advantage of the indoor location as the weather turned colder. Each Wednesday through December 19, more than 40 local farms, food makers, crafters, artists, and vendors showcased their wares. In celebration of the holiday season, there were also activities such as wreath making, cookie and cupcake decorating, candy necklace stations, gingerbread house making, live music, pictures with Santa, gift basket raffles, a coat and toy drive, and more.
After taking a few weeks off, the Bell Works Fresh market will be starting up again this month and will be held every Wednesday from 1 to 6 p.m. beginning January 30 and continuing through May 1, 2019.
Havana Holiday Party
On December 13, the Bell Works Ballroom was the venue for the 2018 Bell Works Holiday Party, where the community was welcomed to enjoy a unique evening of holiday cheer. The theme of the celebration was “Havana Nights,” featuring Cuban food, mojitos, live entertainment by the De Tierra Caliente band, and music by DJ Kelly. Guests were encouraged to wear Cuban garb for what promised to be a festive night.
Chanukah Celebration
On December 3, a crowd of hundreds gathered to celebrate Chanukah at Bell Works, at a special event hosted by Chabad Jewish Center of Holmdel. An enormous menorah and dreidel sculpture was crafted from 800 pounds of ice, there were arts and crafts for children, and everyone feasted upon donuts and latkes to mark the lighting of the menorah and the festival of lights.
Food Drive for FulFill Fights Famine
Throughout the month of December, Bell Works invited tenants and community members to join in the fight against hunger by organizing the Bell Works Gives Back Food Drive to benefit FulFill of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, the area food bank. In 2017, the metroburb collected 699 pounds of food and their goal was to top that amount in 2018. A list of needed food items was shared and monetary donations were gratefully accepted, as well. Bell Works tenant companies were urged to join in a friendly competition by setting up decorated donation boxes, with prizes awarded to the top three most creative boxes.
Eat, Drink, and Be Merry
November 26 marked the grand opening of The Hummus & Pita Co., the newest eatery at Bell Works, with a “Brooklyn-style block party” that included free food and drinks, giveaways, a raffle, and a falafel eating contest. The Hummus & Pita Co. serves healthy Mediterranean cuisine and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. It joins the eateries in the Bell Market food hall that currently include Honeybell Bakery, Bubz Deli, Broadfork Greens + Grains, Jozu, and Corbo & Sons. The venues offer a variety of options for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. You can also stop in for dinner with Corbo & Sons or Honeybell Bakery, which have each extended their hours on some evenings.
Along with good food, of course, comes good drink. Sommelier Chantelle Corbo, one of the driving forces behind RBC Hospitality Group, which created the Bell Market food hall, is now hosting regularly scheduled wine tastings with the Bell Market Wine + Spirits Club. In December, attendees sampled eight wines and enjoyed complimentary gourmet pizza while learning about spirits for building a favorite cocktail and stocking a great bar to entertain for the holidays. Guests can enjoy free monthly tastings and discover new bottles, pairing ideas, and the best ways to serve wine. The selections are handpicked each month by Corbo, with favorite recommendations from her travels and featuring lesser known producers and wine regions. Bottles may be picked up at Corbo & Sons on scheduled days. You may also want to consider a Bell Market Wine + Spirits Club subscription for yourself or as a gift for the wine enthusiast in your life. It’s offered as a one month subscription for $70 or a six month subscription for $420. The sommelier chooses the wines, taking the pressure off the consumer and introducing new varietals, producers, regions, and more.
Tenants and Tulips
In its most recent announcement regarding new tenant leases being signed, Somerset Development stated that the Bell Works complex is now more than 80 percent leased. There is also a range of unique venues available onsite for those who would like to hold a party, festival, corporate event, conference, wedding, or other special celebration.
In December, the Bell Works team attended the International Council of Shopping Centers’ New York Deal Making Conference, where they unveiled the new branding for the metroburb, designed by creative director Paola Zamudio and her staff. The new icon for Bell Works is a tulip, which represents sustainability and was considered an inspiration to Eero Saarninens, the architectural genius behind the iconic Bell Labs building, whose designs included the tulip chair and table.
Bell Works is located at 101 Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel, NJ. To find out more and stay up-to-date on news and events at the metroburb, visit https://bell.works or follow Bell Works on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
