Stephy’s Place: A Support Center for Grief and Loss, treated guests to a night of welcome laughter and levity on Thursday, May 16, 2019, as they hosted their second annual Comedy for a Cause event. Held this year in the Performing Arts Center at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ, brought in an audience of nearly 400 people who came to enjoy a fun evening and to show their support. All funds raised from the sold-out event will benefit the Stephy’s Place mission of offering free support services to anyone suffering from grief and loss.
After welcome remarks – both poignant and humorous – from Stephy’s Place founder Sheila Martello and event organizer Mike DeStefano, actress Siobhan Fallon Hogan kicked off the fun, warming up the crowd and introducing the lineup of performers. The talented comedians included Erica Spera, Chris James (pictured above), Jon Fisch, and Sean Donnelly, who collectively have appeared onstage at Gotham Comedy Live, Caroline’s, Comedy Central and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The audience roared with laughter at their hilarious standup routines and their respective takes on life, society, family, dating, marriage, kids, relationships, age, fitness, work, living in New Jersey and New York, money, and more.
The evening also included a 50/50 raffle drawing. Afterwards, the comedians greeted guests in the theater lobby.
Before the show began, complimentary dessert was served, donated by Denise Kelleher of Cups & Cakes. The event was generously sponsored by Mike DeStefano, Geralyn Behring, Cups & Cakes, Rosso Financial Group, Thompson Memorial Home, the Brennan, Sullivan, and Gallagher families, and Lynne Pagano.
