The Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold rang in the holidays with a festive celebration last month at the historic home of Holmdel, NJ resident Sylvia Allen. On the evening of Saturday, December 7, 2019, Sylvia welcomed guests to her lovely home, which is filled with a fascinating and charming array of antique furnishings and vintage items at any time of year, but is adorned with particularly beautiful decorations for the Christmas season.
The partygoers enjoyed a night that included delicious food and drinks, the warmth of fellowship and fireplaces, and information about the history of the house and the décor – much of which was either handed down through generations of the Allen family or discovered and refurbished by Sylvia through her years of travel around the country and around the globe. Sylvia is the owner of Allen Consulting, one of New Jersey’s leading PR agencies, an internationally recognized author and sponsorship sales expert, and the founder of Sylvia’s Children, a nonprofit that supports Ugandan children. She is also an active member of The Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold, which in turn has lent support to her charitable efforts. At the end of the evening, Sylvia served a fabulous, custom-designed cake that she had ordered for the occasion, with a message of thanks to the club members.
The Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold welcomes volunteer members from communities throughout the area. It is a member club of Optimist International, a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local clubs whose members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities, and in themselves by providing hope and positive vision.
